It is now accepted by almost every one that increasing concentration of carbon dioxide in atmosphere is the root cause for Global warming which, in turn, can result in some very serious changes in climate impacting lives of millions of people on the planet earth.
As per the general global consensus, it is felt that in order to avoid serious climate impacts, it is necessary to ensure that carbon dioxide concentration in atmosphere does not exceed 450 ppm and the world has almost reached there. Hence it is not only a serious but an urgent global concern.
Fossil fuel based energy supply constitutes almost 75% of global emissions, hence the focus on emission reduction is related to improving âenergy efficiencyâ and use of cleaner energy sources like sola and wind power.
Urgent need to reduce, recover and recycle water
Water is a scarce and finite resource in usable form. Demand for water is growing rapidly with increased population and accelerated economic growth. Water consumption pattern worldwide shows that more than 20% of available fresh water resource is used by industries.
